Danger! executive producer Michael Davies shed some light on The Big Bang TheoryIt’s Mayim Bialik’s exit from the beloved quiz show.

Bialik, who began hosting the game show in 2021, announced that she has been informed that she will no longer be a host in December 2023. Ken Jennings will now become the sole presenter of Danger!.

Speaking about the decision, Davies described Bialik as a “superb host”, but explained that the need for “more consistency” was behind her dismissal.

“When I took over the show, we were really forced into this situation because of everything that had happened before, the guest period,” Davies said during the “Unscripted Storytellers” panel during from the Television Critics Association Winter 2024 Press Tour (via People).

“Mayim found herself hosting the primetime versions; I brought Ken on as a guest host once Mayim had her schedule on her Fox sitcom.”

“Over the last two and a half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of TV networks and other interested parties is that they want more consistency,” Davies said. “They wanted just one host.”

Despite Bialik’s departure, Davies still hopes she can return to the show in some capacity in the future.

“Mayim is a wonderful host,” he added. “We look forward to continuing to work with her on the primetime versions and other spin-offs.”

“Those conversations are ongoing, but Ken really won the job,” Davies said afterward of Jennings.

Last December, the actress took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, clarifying that the decision was not hers.

“As the holidays begin in Hollywood, I have a few Danger! news,” she wrote.

“Sony has informed me that I will no longer host the syndicated version of Danger!

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for this year’s animation and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Danger! family.”

Danger! is broadcast on ABC in the United States. A British version with Stephen Fry began on 1 January, broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX.
