Joe Budden Refutes Claims He’s Protecting Diddy After Podcast Mistake

Joe Budden Refutes Claims He’s Protecting Diddy After Podcast Mistake

Joe Budden defends himself against accusations that he downplays the latest news about Diddy. On Friday, CNN released surveillance footage of a 2016 hotel altercation in which Diddy was abusive toward singer and then-girlfriend Cassie. The two settled a lawsuit over allegations of abuse in their relationship earlier this year.

The hip hop podcaster edited his Diddy segment discussing the video

Joe Budden suggested to listeners that he would discuss the video of Diddy and Cassie on Friday’s episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” including it in the episode description. However, listeners would discover that the segment was removed from the finished product.

Fans immediately took to social media to question the decision. Some went so far as to insinuate that the podcaster was somehow under orders from Diddy not to discuss the matter.

Budden offered his explanation for the cut

During a Twitter Spaces session on Saturday, Joe Budden explained. He confirmed that he recorded a conversation about Diddy and Cassie’s situation, but ultimately decided that the conversation didn’t have the scope the topic deserved. He added that he would discuss it during Wednesday’s episode.

I have no connection with Diddy… Yesterday was the first time I saw something like that and it was hard to watch… I’m not disappointed in any of it.

Despite his explanation, people feel it was not a good decision. Those who aren’t fans of the podcaster have pointed out a number of reasons why he may have removed the segment.

For one thing, he’s already been connected to Diddy and counted him among the podcast’s listeners. They also note that he was reluctant to talk about certain events that happened earlier in the year and was questioned to a lesser extent for it. When news of the allegations and lawsuit became public, Budden was also skeptical of Cassie’s accusations. This led some to point out that Budden himself had been accused of abusive behavior by his previous partners.
