‘He did it, massively’ – 24-year-old shocked by change new Chelsea target has brought to his game

Chelsea are closing in on Kieran McKenna, with the Ipswich boss clearly their number one target to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

There is tons of discussion about what he might or might not bring to the job, and whether or not he is an improvement on Pochettino, who was finally starting to settle in and form a solid team at Stamford Bridge.

On Twitter, Chelsea looked back on this season to verify some of the praise McKenna received from the players he was responsible for.

“From day one, when I walked in the door, he (McKenna) told me he would help me improve my game, and he did it massively, forward and defensively,” said impressive left-back Leif Davis told Sky Sports.

“I didn’t think I had that quality in the final third, it certainly wasn’t my strong point, but now I would say I do. The way he worked with me in training to be more comfortable with the ball at my feet in the final third and finding passes instead of just putting them in the box and hoping for the best.

Well, this all sounds very promising. And our own lender, Omari Hutchinson?

“Sometimes when you come into the team as a substitute the manager tells you we need a different dynamic. A skilled player who will tackle your man and can go both ways. For me personally, I appreciate that. I like to entertain the crowd and the manager gives you that freedom.

Again, that sounds great.

Incredible impact – but not at the highest level

Of course, as many have pointed out, this is praise for the Championship from Championship players. It is not yet clear whether this will apply to the next level. It’s certainly been a long time since there has been such a promising and highly rated manager at this level, but there are certainly shades of Graham Potter in this appointment – although, of course, he already had years of experience in the Premier League at the time we chose him. .
