Filmed: arrest made during burglary at car dealership

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield police have solved a burglary at a used car dealership.

On May 14, a burglary was reported at Lavish Auto Sales, 605 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. Security cameras reportedly captured the suspect entering through a back door. Once inside, $300 in cash was stolen.

Police said the suspect in the security video was a former employee of Lavish Auto.

Luis Aleberto Aviles-Rivera, 30, of unknown address, Smithfield was located on May 17 and had outstanding arrest warrants charging him with felony breaking and entering and felony theft.

Aviles-Rivera was being held on $52,000 bail at the Johnston County Detention Center.
