Train disruption following emergency between Scunthorpe and Doncaster

There were no train services between Scunthorpe and Doncaster while emergency services dealt with an incident which closed the railway line this morning.

The area is now clear, but the disruption means trains could be delayed or canceled until 11am. The incident began around 6:30 a.m. and is believed to have been caused by people trespassing on the railway tracks.




Travel information service Inrix says: “Service suspended on Northern between Doncaster and Scunthorpe due to emergency services dealing with an incident. »

In a tweet, Northern said: “Services between Doncaster and Scunthorpe are disrupted due to a trespassing incident. Emergency services are on scene and dealing with the incident.”


People using Northern can use these rail replacement services:

  • 09:10 Doncaster calls all stations to Scunthorpe provided by Ross Travel
  • 09:55 Scunthorpe calls all scheduled stations to Doncaster by Elite Travel 2 x 16 seater vehicles

Any other rail replacement services will be updated on the National Rail website. Travel times can take up to 30 minutes longer with alternative rail transport.

Those traveling on TransPennine Express can use tickets on:

  • East Midlands Railway services between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street, and between Grimsby Town and Lincoln/Nottingham to connect to other East Midlands Railway services to Liverpool Lime Street
  • Northern services between Scunthorpe and Doncaster, and between Sheffield and Doncaster / Liverpool Lime Street
  • A replacement rail transport has been requested to operate between Doncaster and Cleethorpes, calling at all stations.


National Rail update: Lines open but services may be canceled

National Rail said all lines are now open but disruption is expected until 11am. In an update it said: “Following emergency services dealing with an incident between Doncaster and Cleethorpes, all lines have now reopened.

“Trains may continue to be canceled or revised. Disruptions are expected until 11:00.”
