Luka Doncic-inspired Egor Demin commits to play at BYU for ex-Suns assistant Kevin Young

The Kevin Young effect has made BYU one of the top prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Egor Demin, a 6-9 combo guard, committed to play for Young, who was an assistant with the Phoenix Suns for four seasons.

“He will make an immediate impact at BYU with his versatility, playmaking, scoring and winning mentality,” Dreamers wrote on Instagram. Dreamers covers “high level” basketball players.

Young accepted the college head coaching job in his home state of Utah in the 2024 playoffs. The Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

From Russia, Demin posted the decision on his Instagram account on Tuesday morning. ESPN projected Demin ninth on its initial 2025 mock draft, Dreamers reported.

The Real Madrid product wrote in 2022 that Mavericks superstar point guard Luka Doncic was his basketball inspiration. Doncic is one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.

The Mavs have a 3-0 lead over the Timberwolves heading into Tuesday’s Game 4 in Dallas.

“Special respect and gratitude to my idol and inspiring player, Luka Doncic, for an unexpected and very pleasant gift,” Demin wrote.

Doncic sent Demin a pair of his Jordan brand sneakers.
