A Single Piece of Coral Inspired This Stunning Tulum Wedding

The colors of this vibrant wedding in Tulum, Mexico all started with a single piece of red coral. Designers Regina Crosby-Atkins and Krista Jon of Crosby + Jon Design found coral while working in Tulum, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, and used it as inspiration for the destination wedding of Bhaji Illuminati and Chris Tourtellotte in April 2016 in this same romantic location. .

“The bride wanted a lot of color and she was really brave in letting us go wild,” Crosby-Atkins said. Look at the bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids’ dresses to see the full color palette: a warm palette of red, orange, mustard yellow and gold. Crosby-Atkins and Jon let the ocean play its own role in the color palette, and its cool tones provided a striking contrast to the pink wedding colors.

Bhaji and Chris’ wedding took place at the Viento De Mar Hotel, a boutique beachfront hotel in Tulum that houses guests in all-white bungalows. The ceremony took place on the beach, where guests were seated on padded benches, bistro chairs and linen sofas from Archive Rentals – Mexico. Guests gathered for the reception in the hotel’s white open-air dining room, where colorful floral centerpieces in warm event colors took center stage as the brightest objects of the room – except the bride, of course – as well as gold-rimmed glasses and white china. (also from Archive Rentals – Mexico) helped establish the overall modern-vintage vibe. Tulum’s clean aesthetic also played its own role in the wedding, as designers emulated its laid-back vibe in the reception’s simple, clean decor.

“Our goal is to create beach weddings that are elegant, unique and personal,” Jon said of Bhaji and Chris’ waterfront event. It looks like they did just that: scroll down to see more images from Brian Leahy Photography from this Tulum destination wedding.
