Man’s Text Message to Daughter After Breakup Is Healing Balm for a Broken Heart

A 20-year-old girl was dealing with brutal heartbreak when she saw the light at the end of the tunnel thanks to her father’s comforting words. Fallon Thompson, a resident of the US state of Texas, shared screenshots of a lengthy message her father sent after their breakup in a TikTok post that went viral with over 18 million views.

Fallon’s father, Scott Thompson, witnessed his daughter’s breakup as her boyfriend ended the relationship in his driveway. In order to help his daughter cope, Scott sent her a heartfelt message – recounting his experiences of one-night stands, his affairs and the story of how he met Fallon’s mother – emphasizing that it was “worth it, to get where I am now.”

“POV (Point of View): You just got dumped in your driveway and your dad saw it all,” Fallon captioned her TikTok post which also featured three screenshots of her dad’s text message.

“Hey little girl, here’s your old man’s point of view,” is how Scott began writing to his daughter.

While the entire post is something you would want to read over and over, there are some parts that are particularly soothing to the soul.

For example, this: “What you face today is therefore necessary for you to one day be able to discern when a person is truly right for you. »

Also: “Even though at the time I was heartbroken and felt like I would never get over it and was destined to be alone. I promise you, this is not your future.

The most important thing is this: “When someone lets you know that you are not for them, deal with the pain and suffering knowing that this person has just given you back the most precious thing in the world: your time. »

In conclusion: “So be the bull, lean into your storm, accept the suction and let it fill you. You are strong enough to endure, and very soon you will be at peace.

After the TikTok post went viral, Fallon told Good Morning America, “After reading the first sentence, I was like, ‘Oh, this is something my heart needed.’ I think at that point he knew I just needed some uplifting words.

“So I kind of cried a little bit, and I was like, ‘Wow, no matter where my relationships take me in life, I know I’ll always have my dad and my family.’ This is the most important thing for me.

Scott, speaking to Good Morning America, added that as a father, “you just want to try to do something to help them ease their pain or at least do what you can to help them have perspective on this subject. »

He was also delighted that his message served as a healing balm to many others nursing a broken heart.
