Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced an expanded sales tax holiday that will take place later this summer. DeWine made the announcement Friday, extending the length of Ohio’s sales tax holiday to 10 days to allow tax-free purchases made in person or online on all eligible items up to $500. This year’s Ohio sales tax holiday will run from midnight on Tuesday, July 30 until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 8. In the past, sales tax holidays lasted three days and included only school-related items and lower purchase price limits. The governor’s decision comes in conjunction with the Ohio General Assembly. In the past, sales tax holidays lasted three days and only covered school-related items and lower purchase price limits.

The governor’s decision comes in conjunction with the Ohio General Assembly.

The holiday will not include a sales tax exemption for services or any purchases of watercraft, outboard motors, motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vaping products or any item containing marijuana, DeWine announced Friday.
