EWSU announces completion of its portion of Trinity Stormwater Park

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The Trinity Stormwater Park project is one step closer to becoming a reality. The behind-the-scenes construction is complete.

The park’s underground reservoirs that capture, filter and discharge rainwater into the ground have been installed.

Thanks to this, the streets have reopened.

The park, located on the former site of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, was created several years ago to address excess stormwater runoff and to build green space downtown.

“We finally have an opportunity to not only provide that, but also make our Ohio River, which is right on our river – which we continue to develop – a significantly healthier and cleaner space,” said Robert Lopez, who works on the project.

Developers continue to raise funds.

Lopez hopes to have all the park amenities in the space by this time next year.
