Polyvance Announces New Instructor-Led Plastic Repair Estimation Training Course

Polyvance’s new EPR-02 Estimating Plastic Repair course was designed to address this issue by educating shop estimators about the factors involved in estimating the repair of damaged automotive plastics, according to a press release.

Repairable plastic parts are often rejected because many estimators do not have the knowledge to evaluate the repairability of these parts. This practice negatively affects the labor hours billed by the workshop, its repair/replacement ratio and its cycle time.

The EPR-02 Estimating Plastic Repair course is a structured, instructor-led course delivered by Polyvance personnel in the customer’s workshop. Each three-hour session can accommodate up to six students. The course was recently approved by I-CAR for three hours of annual training credit through their Industry Training Alliance program. Polyvance is a lasting partner of I-CAR.

During the course, students will learn how to assess damage to automotive plastic parts, with an emphasis on bumpers and headlights. The course consists primarily of an engaging, discussion-oriented classroom session, complemented by a workshop demonstration of bumper cover repair by the instructor.

Course objectives include identifying plastic repair opportunities, understanding various plastic repair methods, making informed decisions about repairing or replacing damaged plastic, accurately assessing the extent of damage to bumpers and headlights and determining the repairability of damaged textured parts.
