Plamen Chobonov: Disqualified driver caught behind the wheel

Plamen Chobonov was found driving a vehicle while serving a previously imposed driving ban in the south car park of Prestonpans station last year.

Chobonov, of Station Avenue, Haddington, also had no valid insurance for the vehicle due to the driving ban in force.

The 25-year-old was arrested and pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The Crown has accepted not guilty pleas to charges that Chobonov gave a false name to police and possessed a quantity of cannabis during the same incident on December 8, 2023.

Sheriff Joseph Stewart handed Chobonov a three-year driving ban and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the community as punishment.
