Chicago Violence: Alderman David Moore Lives Out on 73rd Street in Englewood to Call Attention to Problems

CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago city councilor is calling attention to the Englewood neighborhood’s violence and drug problem while living outside.

Alderman David Moore, of the 17th district, has been in 73rd place since Friday.

Moore described the block as an open-air drug market.

He recounted his stay on Facebook Live, interrupted by gunfire over the weekend.

Several gunshots could be heard on the video.

Moore said he plans to stay in that neighborhood until police come up with a clear strategy to end drug trafficking in that area.

More than 70 people were shot, nine of them fatally, between Friday and Monday in Chicago.
