Hot mistake leaves bosses in hot water

Anglian Water bosses have been left blushing after hundreds of customers were mistakenly told they needed to boil their water.

Residents of Little Metlon, Hethersett and East Carleton received postcards from Anglian Water this week warning them not to drink tap water.

But Anglian Water said the postcards were sent in error and confirmed the water was safe.

The postcards are part of the company’s planning process in which it prepares for situations where it might need customers to take action.

The notice customers received informing them of the error (Image: contributed) They said the postcards were sent during routine testing and were sent in error by a third-party vendor.

An Anglia Water spokeswoman said: “We have carried out extensive water quality testing and can confirm that customers do not need to boil their water.

“We will be in direct contact with all those affected to clarify and reassure them.”

One customer, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “It came as a bit of a shock but we have a bit of a laugh at Anglian Water’s expense now. »
