Panama City Port Authority announces new developments at the East Terminal

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Members of the Panama City Port Authority said they are excited about the potential of an East Terminal expansion project next to the former factory property of paper.

The port has just over $11 million in grants and funding to expand the east terminal and improve its infrastructure.

These improvements include a new warehouse, upgrading the bulkhead, expanding the rail yard, adding a 600-foot bath extension and deepening the basin. Designs for these projects have only just begun.

Between the design phase and the authorization process, it will be necessary to wait until early 2025 before work can begin. The port opened the east terminal in 2020 and now has 70 acres.

They see this expansion as a major milestone for the local maritime industry.
