Summer ice cream flavor inspired by New York bagels hits store shelves

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The summer season is officially here and a unique collaboration, Bagels and Ice Cream, is hitting shelves in New York, but only until the end of summer.

Russ and Daughters and Morgensterns are teaming up to offer a collection of New York deli-inspired ice creams based on Russ and Daughters customer favorites such as bagels, halves and baka.

“Finally, after years of planning, Russ & Daughters and Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream have come together to create a collection of ice creams inspired by some of Russ & Daughters’ most beloved classics,” reads the Morgenstern website .

Three flavors are available:

• Sesame Bagel Ice Cream Sandwich – made with sesame cookies and cream cheese ice cream
• 5-Layer Halva Ice Cream Bar – this option is vegan and gluten-free. It’s made with vegan chocolate and halva ice cream, chocolate fondant and dipped in dark chocolate;
• Babka Chocolate Ice Cream is made with Russ & Daughters’ signature chocolate babka.

Each frozen treat costs $8, available at all Russ & Daughters locations and Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream.

New Yorkers can also order a collection of boxes including Sesame Bagel Ice Cream Sandwiches, two 5-Layer Halvah Ice Cream Bars and two Babka Chocolate Popsicles. Ice cream orders are shipped once a week for delivery on orders placed before Monday.
