Dallas Cowboys star Holdout posts cryptic message that has fans buzzing

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is looking for some seriously big money following Justin Jefferson’s four-year, $140 million ($110 million) contract extension guaranteed) with the Minnesota Vikings.

To show his displeasure at not having received a deal yet, the 25-year-old star wide receiver, who is currently scheduled to play the season on the fifth year of his rookie contract, did not report for OTAs or mandatory minicamp.

Well, the Disgruntled Cowboy recently took to social media and dropped a cryptic message that could be interpreted in several ways.

β€œI’m starting to see the light and it feels real all of a sudden,” Lamb posted via Instagram, alongside a photo of himself in workout gear.

So what exactly does this mean?

This one-line message could actually be interpreted two ways. Perhaps he is hinting that he sees the end of the tunnel when it comes to contract negotiations and that a deal could be imminent. However, he could also say that he sees that no deal is being made and that it is finally becoming “real” that his days as a Cowboy are over.

If veteran NFL analyst Adam Schefter’s words are accurate, Lamb’s message might more likely be a goodbye than an “I’ll be back.”

Sources: an agreement is not imminent

Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, attends the Big 12 football game between Texas Tech and Texas on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

“The Dallas Cowboys are as far away from Lamb as they are from Micah Parsons as they are from Dak Prescott, which means they’re not that far away from any of those players right now,” Schefter said in a segment on ESPN’s Sportscenter.

Lamb is looking for a deal similar to, and perhaps even better than, Jefferson’s deal with Minnesota. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox projects the Lamb deal to be in the range of $140.1 million over four years, with $110 million guaranteed.

There’s no denying that the Cowboys’ 2020 first-round pick (17th overall) is an elite receiver. He finished last season as the NFL’s second-leading receiver with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. The young man has been an impact player from the first day he stepped onto an NFL field.

The Dallas Cowboys Problem

The problem in Dallas is that starting quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive end Micah Parsons also need to extend their contracts and the possible financial burden of extending the three stars seems to worry Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys are prioritizing the Prescott deal.

β€œYou have Dak Prescott. The Cowboys have a lot of financial issues here with three players they need to sign – Parsons and Lamb as well – but the feeling around the league and sources I’ve spoken with is that they want to start with Dak,” Fowler recently said during a Sportscenter segment. “They put it on the table with Dak’s people that, ‘Hey, look, you’re a priority.’ We want to try to do something. As for dollars, not much progress yet. I would characterize their efforts so far as passive.

The end of a cowboy race?

And if Dallas’ effort is currently “passive” in terms of its priority, one might conclude that it is virtually non-existent when it comes to the Lamb deal. If that’s the case, it’s no wonder the 25-year-old is taking to social media, hinting that he’s seeing “the light” and, perhaps, preparing to embrace a big change in professional decor.

The Cowboys have more options with Lamb than with Prescott and Parsons. They could put the “franchise” label on young talent, but, in the long run, as the salary scale of wide receivers increases, that could lead to them paying even more money than would otherwise be the case. currently with a simple extension. .

Regardless, Lamb is the only one of the three Cowboys who decided to stick it out and the pressure is now on the Dallas front office to make a big decision very soon.
