The main political parties in the Lyon department ready to welcome candidates

Election season is heating up and Lyon County’s major political parties are hosting public events in the coming days.

Lyon County Republicans will host their annual picnic Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Jones Park Shelter House. Attorney General Kris Kobach will be in attendance, along with a currently unspecified list of local, state and national candidates. The event will also include a silent auction and a donation challenge board.

Lyon County Democrats are hosting a meet and greet event involving candidates for local, legislative and congressional seats at Mulready’s Pub from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday. Residents can ask questions about the issues and candidates’ platforms during the event.

All democratic candidates appearing on the Lyon departmental ballot were invited. Voter registration assistance will be available, as well as information on election dates and polling locations. The event is free and open to the public.
