Education Minister takes responsibility for cancellation of UGC-NET, announces high-level committee to reform NTA

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took full responsibility for the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam and announced the formation of a high-level committee to improve the structure, functioning , review processes, transparency and data security protocols of the National Testing Agency (NTA). .

“The high-level committee to review and improve the functioning of the NTA will be briefed soon,” the minister said, adding, “Let us have confidence in our systems and no irregularities or malpractices will be tolerated by the government.”

On the cancellation of UGC-NET exam for selection of junior scholars, assistant professors and PhD students, Pradhan said the exam copy was leaked on Darknet and added that the question which was circulated on the social media platform Telegram corresponded to the original questionnaire.

“Soon after it became clear that the UGC-NET questionnaire on the DarkNet matched the original questionnaire, we decided to cancel the exam,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protect the interests of students and guarantee the transparency of educational processes.

Responding to allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG exam and opposition demands to reconduct the medical entrance exam, Pradhan said isolated incidents of malpractices should not affect thousands of students who passed the exam deservedly. He announced the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate and resolve problems within the NTA.

“An isolated incident (leak of documents from Bihar) should not affect thousands of students who took the exam with all sincerity,” the education minister said, adding, “The government will form a committee to high-level committee which will investigate several issues related to the NTA examination. Recommendations will be expected from this high-level committee to further improve the NTA, its structure, its operation, its examination process, its transparency and its security protocol. Datas.

“We are committed to conducting error-free examinations, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve the functioning of the NTA,” he added.
