AirPods users should get plenty of new features with Apple’s next firmware update expected to be released this fall, including a new customizable adaptive audio feature.

Janica Bunales for Headphonesty:

Found in the new AirPods firmware beta, this upgrade promises to change the way we hear audio in different environments.

Apple defines (Adaptive Audio) as:

“A new listening mode that dynamically combines Transparency mode and active noise cancellation based on the conditions of the user’s environment to deliver the best experience of the moment. This will seamlessly adapt the noise control experience as users move between environments and interactions that are constantly changing throughout the day.

But it’s not always perfect. Sometimes AirPods automatically reduce noise cancellation even when users don’t want it to.

This is the problem that the new firmware aims to solve.

This upgrade gives users more control over the strength of their noise cancellation.

With this, you can either “remove more noise” or “remove less noise” to suit your specific needs.

Taken from MacDailyNews: This will be a very welcome control when “automatic” for some reason is not enough.
