7-year-old boy dies after shooting in Stark County hotel room, 1 person arrested

PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 7-year-old boy was found shot to death in a Plain Township hotel room.

Investigators were called to the Knights Inn hotel along Convenience Circle just before 1 a.m. Friday.

When they arrived, they found Ka’Marion Dolch shot in the back in one of the rooms.

Stark County Sheriff George Maier confirms the boy was rushed to an area hospital for treatment, but died.

The boy’s biological father, William Dolch, 37,
was arrested on 8th Street in Canton Friday afternoon, police said. They are still searching for a woman who may be connected to the shooting.

William is charged with possession of a weapon while under disability, tampering with evidence, child endangerment and reckless homicide, police said.

The woman is charged with complicity in reckless homicide, child endangerment and obstructing official business.

Two other young children were also in the room, according to investigators.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are not entirely clear.

Maier confirmed the shooting happened inside the hotel room.

“Every loss of life is a profound tragedy, and it’s especially difficult when a child is involved,” Maier said. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and the entire community. Incidents like this take a heavy toll on everyone, including our first responders. »
