Meet King Charles’ siblings

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had four children: King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

King Charles has very different relationships with each of his siblings: he and Anne were born just 21 months apart and grew up very close. After the death of their mother, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Anne said in a statement: “We were perhaps reminded of how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity that we took for granted. I am also very grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the additional responsibilities of the monarch.

He is less close to his younger brothers. In particular, he reportedly doesn’t get along with Andrew, who is no longer a member of the royal family, due to backlash surrounding his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein. And, although Edward is a member of the royal family – Charles granted him the title Duke of Edinburgh earlier this year – the brothers are 15 years apart and didn’t actually grow up together.

In October 2022, Charles appointed his sister Princess Anne and brother Prince Edward both as Councilors of State, joining his wife Queen Camilla, Prince Andrew, Charles’ sons Prince William and Prince Harry, and Charles’ niece, Princess Beatrice. Previously, councilors of state were limited to the sovereign’s wife and the next four people in the line of succession aged over 21, but of this group only William and Camilla were members of the royal family, this which turned out to be a problem. challenge.
