Seven trains canceled due to repair work on world heritage Kalka-Shimla railway bridge

Train cancellation news: A total of seven Shimla-bound trains were canceled on Saturday. The decision comes after the train movement on bridge number 800 of the world heritage-listed Kalka-Shimla railway was stopped as the plate came loose there.

Work is underway to replace the iron bridge with an RCC bridge. The work has continued for several days. One of its plates has come loose and must be replaced.

On Saturday morning, three trains arrived from Kalka. Only two trains were operated until Taradevi came out with one train reaching Kandaghat.

From this point, the trains were sent back to Kalka and on Sunday, three more trains, which would travel up to Taradevi, would leave Kalka.

The journey from Taradevi to Kalka will have only one train. Those who wish to visit Shimla after this will have to take a bus or taxi. Tourists and other rail travelers face difficulties due to train cancellations during the peak tourist season.

Shimla has seen a massive influx of tourists in recent days, particularly because of the school holidays. Tourists, however, are facing difficulties due to the cancellation of trains. Advance reservations are also canceled at the same time.

The Ambala authorities were informed about this by the Shimla railway authorities. An email ordering cancellation of Shimla-bound trains was received by Ambala authorities in the morning.

On Saturday around 3 p.m., a team from the railway bridge department arrived in Shimla from Delhi. This group examined the location. Additionally, the strength of the bridge was examined. This report will be submitted to the ministry after which the next process will begin.
