Morgan Freeman thanks fans for bringing attention to AI impersonations of his voice.

The 87-year-old actor, famous for his speaking skills in films such as The Penguin Walk, The Shawshank RedemptionAnd Million Dollar Babywrote a note on his social networks.

His note comes after Morgan’s voice recently became the target of an AI-generated video that includes a TikTok series created by a woman posing as her niece Nepo.

“Thank you to my incredible fans for your vigilance and support in reporting the unauthorized use of an AI voice impersonating me. Your dedication helps authenticity and integrity remain paramount. Grateful. #AI #scam #imitation #IdentityProtection,” he wrote.

Morgan isn’t the first actor to be targeted by this practice, as last month Scarlett Johansson criticized an AI company for trying to “lend” her voice.

After declining the offer, PEOPLE reported that Scarlett was told she “could bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and help consumers feel comfortable with the seismic shift surrounding humans and AI.”
