Sunday’s Child is a weekly column featuring a child currently in foster care awaiting adoption.

Michael, who likes to be called Mikey, is a bright and friendly 12-year-old boy.

He’s a great dancer but tends to be self-conscious. He also learned to play the guitar. He recently played on a soccer team and loved it.

Mikey is also very curious and likes to ask questions about things he doesn’t understand. Mikey has a great sense of humor and can make anyone laugh.

He can light up a room with his smile and laugh.

Can I adopt?

If you are at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income and a place in your heart, you might be the perfect person to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or in a relationship; experienced or not; tenants or owners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples.

As an adoptive parent, you will not have to pay any fees; foster care adoption is completely free in Massachusetts. The process of adopting a child from foster care includes training, interviews, and home visits to see if adoption is right for you. These steps will help you find a child or sibling group that your family will fit in well with.
