‘Danger!’ Fans furious over latest clue mistake

Danger! is one of the few competition shows that relies on brains rather than brawn. However, every now and then the series drops the ball. Fans were recently furious over a specific instance like this. So what happened with this situation?

Danger! It’s all about testing your knowledge

When most people think of game shows and other reality shows, most today test things like physical strength, endurance, or any other aspect related to surviving other opponents. On the other hand, Danger! is one of the few games that rewards knowledge.

Danger! Participants must definitely survive the competition and beat everyone else to win the crown. However, it all comes down to knowledge, and whether a person’s intelligence is enough to eliminate the competition. In this aspect, Danger! is one of the most unique shows ever.

Every now and then the show gets it wrong

For a show like Danger! it’s all about flexibility of knowledge and brain power, you’d think those working on the show would have everything together, so that things line up in the ideal way they’re supposed to. However, every once in a while, even the great minds behind the program get it wrong.

A recent clue read: “50 years ago, Vin Scully announced that he had received “a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a long-standing record.”

Two of the three participants answered the question correctly, with the correct answer being “Hank Aaron.” However, several Danger! fans were furious at the misleading wording of this last clue.

Danger! Fans are angry over a misleading final clue

Even if two out of three Danger! Contestants got the answer right and eventually went to a tiebreaker, with many fans of the show watching at home recently furious over what they see as the show dropping the ball with a clue lax ending.

  • A Danger! one fan wrote: “the clue confused me. I thought he (Vin Scully) got a standing ovation. I’m like…….what? Are we supposed to guess the record Vin Scully broke.
  • Another game show viewer chimed in, adding: “Terribly clumsy and misleading wording. I thought “he” referred to Vin Scully. I thought that was asking what record had been broken. I should have said something like “this person” instead of “he”.

To his credit, Danger! host Ken Jennings emphasized the word “he” when reading the last clue. In the end, the correct answer was given by the majority of players. However, it is also understandable why viewers are upset by this awkward and misleading wording.
