The pleas before the Rajasthan High Court seek cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 entrance exam and a retest alleging irregularities in the conduct of the exam. The High Court has fixed the matter for further hearing on July 10, two days after the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a batch of pleas regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam.

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court on Monday issued notices to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Center on a plea alleging irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Under Graduate) Medical Entrance Examination (NEET- UG 2024) organized on May 5. and request the cancellation of the exam.

Justice Ashok Kumar Jain issued the notices to the NTA and the Center and sought their response on the plea alleging irregularities in the examination.

The pleas sought cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 entrance exam and retest alleging irregularities in the conduct of the exam.

Rampratap Saini, who defended the petitioners, told news agency PTI that the hearing in the High Court was held on four petitions during the day and considering the matter serious, it had set the case for a further hearing on July 10, two days after the Supreme Court. The court is expected to hear a number of pleas regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam.

Several appeals have been filed in the Supreme Court as well as various high courts, raising grievances over the alleged irregularities in the examination. A series of petitions filed before the top court and high courts have sought various reliefs, such as cancellation of the examination, cancellation of grace marks awarded to over 1,500 medical candidates, fresh conduct and an investigation into the alleged irregularities.

Apex court refused to stay counseling process from July 6

Several pleas before the top court also sought postponement or cancellation of the counseling process, which is scheduled to begin on July 6. However, the top court refused to postpone or cancel the counseling process.

The NTA has transferred the highest court for transfer of cases pending in several high courts to the apex court.

The NTA also asked the top court to transfer all pleas pending before several high courts raising grievances regarding irregularities in the examination to the Supreme Court, which has sent notices to the petitioners who filed a plea before the high courts.

The NTA earlier told the apex court that it has canceled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates and these medical aspirants will be given the option of either re-testing or forfeiting the compensatory marks granted to them for wasting time.
