OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information related to the fatal shooting of an Oakland County sheriff’s officer, according to a news release.

Bradley J. Reckling, 30, was working undercover Saturday night when he was shot to death in the area of ​​Park Grove and Schoenherr streets in Detroit, according to police.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard called the shooting an “ambush.”

Reckling was among three deputies in the auto theft unit following a Chevrolet Equinox stolen from Red Oaks Water Park in Oakland County between 1 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Police ultimately arrested three people in connection with the shooting, but no information on the suspects was released.

Reckling leaves behind a pregnant wife and three daughters, ages 5, 4 and 1, according to the sheriff’s office.

“This agency is crushed,” Bouchard said. “You can see in their eyes how heartbreaking it is.”
