Man reveals ‘scary’ way thieves can break into your hotel room using a magnet, leaving people stunned

A ‘brilliant’ video showing how would-be criminals can gain access to your hotel room from outside has people claiming thieves are getting more ‘creative’.

Experts advise that when you first check into a hotel room, you should immediately examine the furnishings for bedbugs and flush the toilet before using them.

After making sure your door locks properly and familiarizing yourself with the escape routes in the event of a fire, you can finally start unpacking and enjoying your evening away from home.

However, you will need to remain vigilant throughout your stay and carefully monitor items that are not stored in a safe.

Unfortunately, it looks like the personal items you choose not to put behind a padlock could be at risk, as one social media user has shown how easy it is for opportunists and thieves to gain access to your bedroom. ‘hotel.

Last year, a Facebook user – nicknamed “Ryan TricksTV” – uploaded a three-minute clip to the platform showing how thieves only need a set of magnets, a piece of string and a cable tie to get into your digs.

At the start of the clip, Ryan demonstrated how a string with a cable tie on the end was slipped under his hotel door and maneuvered up to the door handle.

Eventually, after a few attempts, the attacker outside the door managed to tie the cable tie loop around the handle and was ready to open the door before Ryan scared them away.

After opening the door, a person could be seen walking away down the hallway and the content creator held up the magnet for the camera.

He then demonstrated how the nasty “hack” took place, with the magnet moving the cable tie, which had another hidden magnet attached.

“That’s what they were doing,” he exclaimed after seeing the second secret magnet. “Oh my God!”

After watching the viral video – which racked up 50 million views on the creator’s Facebook page – users came out in droves to debate criminal hotel room hacking.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “I should have shut up and opened the door for him. »

Another said: “Thieves are creative. »

Elsewhere, one Facebook user wrote: “When others think it’s real, but I’m sitting here wondering how the hell a string ever climbed up a door.” Not possible.”

“So this video was just a way to show someone how to get into a hotel room using magnets,” someone else wrote. “Genius by the way.”

A fifth commented: “This is why you locked your door and put the chain on. »

Travelers are therefore advised to keep valuables and important documents locked in their rooms and always use deadbolts and anti-theft chains.

Additionally, if you notice any suspicious activity or strange individuals lurking around the hotel, be sure to report it to the staff immediately.
