Mesa Valley Estates (MVE) in Mesquite held its 5th annual Longest Day Silent Auction fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association on Thursday, June 20. This date happened to be the summer solstice, commonly known as the longest day of the year.

A wide range of beautifully arranged items were on display, ready to be auctioned off. These included some small miscellaneous items like a tire pump or a woman’s sun hat. But there were also unique paintings by local artists and beautiful handmade quilts. There was even a long skateboard.

Guests were treated to punch and delicious homemade cookies from the Mesa Valley Estates chef.
Around 80 people came to support the cause.

Kevin and Holly Abbot were there because they have a relative who lives in MVE.
“It’s a great auction, but our house is full!” said Kevin. “So we will write a check before leaving, without taking anything home. »

MVE Enrichment Director Liz Beliaj said the event raised a total of $3,963 to “overshadow the darkness of Alzheimer’s.”
“Mesquite and our surrounding neighbors never fail to amaze me with their kindness, support and generosity,” Beliaj said. “Mesa Valley Estates is proud to call Mesquite our home.”
