His team wowed the entire cricket fraternity by beating Bangladesh in the Super Eight clash to qualify for their first ever T20 World Cup semi-final. From small fish in the water to great heights, Afghans have overcome all obstacles to reach the stage they are at now.

As the team remains on course to win their first major trophy if they advance past the penultimate and final competition, Rashid has a message for all his fans, especially those in Afghanistan, ahead of the highly anticipated encounter against South Africa on Thursday. Not only did an ocean of fans hail the team’s work in this marquee event, but the Afghans also received appreciation from people from all walks of life.

Just a day before this exciting battle, Rashid took to his social media account X to post a special message in his native language Pashto. In the special emotional message, Rashid could be heard calling on all fans back home to support the team as they prepare for the knockout competition.

Talking about the team’s performance ahead of the semi-finals, Afghanistan started their campaign with a bang by defeating Uganda by a mammoth margin of 125 runs before silencing New Zealand by 84 runs in their next confrontation. Papua New Guinea were easy opponents in the third clash as they were hammered by 7 wickets by the Afghans, who confirmed their entry into the super eights stage after this victory.

After winning the first three battles, the fourth and final group match against West Indies was a setback as they lost by 104 runs and faced reality. The super eight stage did not start as expected for them as the team lost to India by 47 runs before emerging victorious against Australia and Bangladesh to force their way to the semi-finals.
