Rare new LEGO-inspired brick made from meteorite featured at Disney Springs

ORLANDO, Fla. – A rare new LEGO block made from meteorite dust has been put on display in Orlando, according to a company spokesperson.

In a press release, LEGO announced that scientists from the European Space Agency were inspired by LEGO bricks to design launch pads and shelters for astronauts as part of the Artemis space program.

However, construction materials cannot be transported to the Moon, so ESA researchers tried to determine whether materials already in space could be used for construction.

As a result, these scientists created small pieces similar to LEGO bricks to build scaled-down versions of different structures.

The trap ? These bricks were made of Meteorite dust 4.5 billion years old.

According to LEGO officials, ESA scientists discovered the ancient meteorite after it crashed in North Africa more than 20 years ago. Scientists then used the dust from the meteorite to 3D print these LEGO-inspired building blocks.

The release shows that the resulting “ESA Space Bricks” are on display in select LEGO stores in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Spain and Australia, as well as the LEGO House in Denmark.

One of these LEGO stores is Disney Springs in Orlando, where the brick will be on display until September 20.
