Register now for art classes offered by Encore! Mount Morris – Shaw Local

MOUNT MORRIS — Again! Mt. Morris, a nonprofit arts organization in Mt. Morris, is sponsoring exciting arts experiences the week of July 22-24, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Allure of Pinecrest Grove Community Center (South McKendrie Ave).

The courses are as follows:

Music Class, Beth Nelson Chase, Instructor. Grades K-2 Fall 2024.

Music and movement sessions will include interactive singing, movement with different rhythms and musical styles. Children in grades K-2 will also have the opportunity to learn musical notation and play rhythm instruments along with songs and recorded music. These fundamentals of music will be used to teach concepts, communicate messages, explore abilities, enhance creativity and have fun.

visual arts Class, Sharon Asp and Kelly Handschuh, instructors. Third through fifth grades in fall 2024.

Students will focus on creating their own masterpieces by experimenting with various media such as printmaking, paper cutting, pencil drawing, pastels and painting. Students in grades three through five will be encouraged to express their personality in their artwork.

Theater Classes, July 22-23 (A third class will be held in the evening later in the week.) David Sheeley and friends of the Performance Arts Guild, instructors. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in fall 2024.

The Performing Arts Guild invites youth in grades six through eight to attend a three-day event where they will have the opportunity to learn the process of creating a play from the planning phase through when the show is performed. They will learn about how a play is selected, the audition process relating to how actors are chosen, the concept of set construction, different areas of the stage, props needed, and costume design and selection . They will also get acquainted with all the important people who work behind the scenes as members of the production team.
