Macklin Celebrini will change everything for the San Jose Sharks

Macklin Celebrini isn’t like most first overall picks – he’s better.

Stepping into Connor Bedard’s shadow may have dulled that shine, but placed in virtually any other context, its potential is blinding.

Just look at his CV. Celebrini has been moving in age for almost as long as we have been following his career at Elite Prospects.

At just 15 years old, the Vancouver-born center led the Shattuck St. Mary’s under-18 prep team in scoring, seven points ahead of his most prolific teammate, with three games in ‘advance. The following season, he led the entire USHL in points while playing for the Chicago Steel during their undrafted campaign.

For an encore, Celebrini visited Boston Univ. at the age of 17 and helped them rise to second place in the country, a spot in the Frozen Four semifinals, and won a Hobey Baker Award as the country’s most outstanding player for the difficulty – the youngest to ever do it. .

He has yet to take on a challenge like the one that awaits him with the San Jose Sharks, but everything Celebrini has done thus far in his career indicates that he is up to the task.

Yet while his resume may be extremely impressive (very!), it’s the “how” more than the “what” that determines our confidence in this player. You’ll probably feel the same way by the end of this article.
