A passion for patterns, shapes and colors

Nationally known interior designer Kanesha Mitchell says she has always had a passion for seeing beauty in different patterns, shapes and colors. That talent has earned him and his Greenville business, Tres Chic Home Interiors, the attention of brands like Article Furniture and Etsy.

Kanesha says she enjoys the customization that comes with each design project and enjoys designing based on special requests. As part of the design of this living room, a long-time client requested a reading nook that was not bulky. Kanesha says she was delighted that a few weeks after the installation was completed, the client sent her a photo of their son enjoying his new reading space.

Top 3 Tips to Recreate the Look

  • Find an element in the design that you like and explain it. The client provided a pillow that she loved because it was filled with color, an important factor for this design. It was a way to keep the vision in mind while still giving the space an elevated look.
  • Texture is an essential element for any design. A range of textures such as wood, velvet, rattan and leather add depth, richness and complexity to the space. Don’t be afraid to mix different textures to achieve the desired feel and look.
  • Kanesha’s motto is “Find you in every detail,” which she says she keeps in mind to ensure each creation reflects the client. The goal here was to create a fun, colorful and chic space for the family to relax. The client also likes elephants, which were incorporated into the design. When accessorizing a space, be sure to find pieces that complement the design of the space and the people who will use it.
