Firefighters and hazmat team work to stop gas leak in Fayetteville neighborhood

Emergency crews are working to stop a gas leak in a Fayetteville neighborhood Thursday morning.

The Fayetteville Fire Department was dispatched to 1511 Fort Bragg Road after a residential gas line was struck by a construction company.

Currently, firefighters and the hazardous materials team are working to stop the leak. Piedmont Natural Gas was asked to participate in this operation.

The public is advised to exercise caution in the Fort Bragg Road and Westmont Drive area due to the presence of emergency vehicles and construction crews on the roadway. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
