New Microsoft Teams features unveiled for June, including smart message translation

It’s the end of June, which means Microsoft has created a new blog post that covers all the new features and improvements it’s added to its Teams service for the entire month. We’ve already reported on some of these additions to Teams, including a new Custom Tone feature for creating Teams chat messages, a new optimization architecture for virtual desktops, and new improvements to its Mech 3D avatar and settings .

Today’s blog post also mentions a new translation feature for Teams. Microsoft states:

When you receive a message in a different language, you will see a suggestion to translate the message into your preferred language. Additionally, in your translation settings you can select which languages you don’t want to translate and whether messages should be translated automatically. These features reduce the need for manual translation or switching between applications, streamlining workflow, saving valuable time and improving communication. and collaboration between different language speakers.

The blog also states that there is a new Meet Now feature that allows the user to quickly start a more informal group chat. Additionally, the UI for Teams message compositions has been refreshed:

The redesign offers a clearer layout and more organized options directly from the compose area, allowing quick access to frequently used functions like editing messages, inserting emojis, loop components and Copilot assistance.

Teams meetings can now access a new plugin to connect to Copilot for Sales so it can offer support and suggestions to a company’s sales reps during a Teams session.

Text-only Teams meeting transcripts will now automatically save to the meeting organizer’s OneDrive for Business folder. Microsoft plans to move away from storing Teams meeting transcription files through Exchange Online in the coming weeks. Team admins can now set up blocks so that only certain employees can download meeting transcripts.
