Haute Couture Inspired by Cult Cinema: The Lion King Collection

The Lion King collection is the latest creation from iconic fashion house Balmain to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the cult film. Art director Olivier Rousteing said he has been a fan of the film since childhood and worked to capture the essence of the film by drawing on African art and crafts for the designs.

The entire range is full of bold hues and bright prints, including artwork by three African creatives. This includes the work of South African painter Nika Mtwana who created an imagined work of art on a flowing dress. Enfant Precoce reinvents Simba and we see him on outerwear and t-shirts. Cassius Kumalo created a portrait of Nala that graces hoodies and tote bags.
