VLURE and Lambrini Girls bring the right message to Glastonbury 2024

It’s a representation of Glastonbury’s truest message: solidarity, tolerance and, uh, actually getting laid?

Words: Abigail Firth.

As always, Shangri La is the Thursday night venue, and this year Glasweg punks VLURE and the politically charged Lambrini Girls will perform twice. On the Peace stage, it’s ironically a debauched affair as VLURE brings their apocalyptic rave and delivers a set of pure euphoria and resistance. Ending their set by waving Scottish and Palestinian flags side by side, they represent Glastonbury’s truest message: solidarity, tolerance and, uh, actually getting laid?

The Lambrini Girls were built for a place like Glastonbury. In their second set of the day (and one of four in total), their vital voices will be sorely missed from the BBC’s Woodies coverage on Friday morning, but frontwoman Phoebe’s impassioned speeches about ratting out your friends for their questionable behavior, to boycott Maccies and get rid of Maccies. JK Rowling must be heard. It’s an anger rooted in total love, as she leads the crowd to chant “Free Palestine” and talk the audience into a microphone calling anyone who identifies as gay a legend.
