How to “show off your room like a cool girl” on TikTok: a viral trend explained

TikTokers are recreating a viral video in which you show off your room like a “cool girl,” and viewers can’t get enough of the creators’ room surfing antics.

In February, TikTok star Ellen Harrold made 18 million viewers laugh with her “hilarious” video of her giving her friend a tour of her room.

In the caption, she wrote, “Show him your room like a cool girl,” which eventually turned into the TikTok trend “show him your room like a cool girl.”

During her video, Ellen pointed out the hanging framed picture. When she got to her surfboard, which was leaning against the wall, she landed on it by jumping sideways and placing her weight on her bed.

She then pretended to surf the waters by making the appropriate movements with her body – prompting a burst of laughter from the person behind the camera.

Although it took TikTokers a few months to recreate the viral video, there have been millions of versions of the clip since June.

The TikToker ‘grincesslera’ shared her take on the viral video by showing footage on her wall and then using her couch for support as she put her feet up on her surfboard. Her TikTok went so viral that it ended up gaining 46 million views.

TikToker Christina Bell also tried her hand at the “show off your room like a cool girl” trend and received not only 120 million views, but also a comment from Google saying she was “quickly searching for surfing tutorials.”

The “show off your room like a cool girl” trend isn’t the only viral fun TikTokers are having this summer. The “match my freak” trend has also seen millions of interpretations.

Although this exposes TikTokers to their strange habits, users like to find people who identify with their quirks.
