Las Vegas escort dies after hotel room incident; man in custody

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – An escort has died after an incident in a Las Vegas hotel room, 8 News Now investigators have learned. (KLAS)

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man was in custody Friday after an escort was killed following an incident in a Las Vegas hotel room, 8 News Now investigators have learned.

The 30-year-old woman died days after the June 12 incident at the Palms Casino Resort, sources said. Jason Kendall turned himself in to police at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Friday afternoon, where officers charged him with open murder and sexual assault, a source familiar with the investigation said.

Las Vegas Metro Police initially responded to the call for an assault or battery at the hotel, records show.

The woman later died in hospital. The cause and manner of his death were not immediately known Friday, but an open murder charge indicates the cause of his death was likely homicide.

While the Metropolitan Police Department issues press releases for every homicide, the department does not issue press releases for late deaths.

The victim, whose name was known to 8 News Now investigators, appeared online on various escort sites. 8 News Now was awaiting confirmation from the coroner to publicly identify her.
