Raja Singh threatens fellow comedian, demands cancellation of his Hyderabad show

Hyderabad: BJP Goshamahal MP T Raja Singh has once again sparked controversy, this time targeting comedian Daniel Fernandes and demanding cancellation of his upcoming show scheduled for June 29 at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.

The MLA’s call for the annulment stems from Fernandes’ comical comment on a recent incident where members of the Jain community dressed up as Muslims to protest against the sale of goats for the Bakrid sacrifice.

In a video statement that went viral on social media, Singh issued a stern warning to Fernandes, saying: “I want to tell Daniel to cancel his show at Banjara Hills which is scheduled for today. Otherwise, remember, our karyakartas will throw so many chappals at you that you will have to think 50 times before visiting Telangana or Hyderabad again. I would also ask the police commissioner to cancel his show. Otherwise, he will be severely beaten by our members. »

Meanwhile, in response to the backlash from some communities, Fernandes apologised via Instagram to members of the Jain community who may have been offended by his jokes. Expressing regret for any hurt caused, Fernandes stressed his intention to entertain and expressed hope for reconciliation and mutual understanding.

“Forgiveness is one of the many character traits your community embraces, so I hope we can put this behind us and move forward in peace and enlightenment,” Daniel said in his Instagram statement.

In August 2022, Raja Singh was taken into protective custody by the Hyderabad police while he was heading to Shilpakala Vedika, where comedian Munawar Faruqui was scheduled to perform the next day. Singh’s intention was allegedly to disrupt the event by setting the stage on fire.
