‘BJP to win Thiruvananthapuram soon…’; Silent fear at CPM district secretariat meeting – KERALA – POLITICS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM district secretariat meeting held on Friday deliberated on the rise of the BJP in Kerala and insisted that the government should learn from its mistakes.

Key takeaways from the meeting:

  • Social pension arrears affected the elections.
  • The high level of criticism against the SFI leadership in connection with the death of Siddharth, a student of Pookode Veterinary College, has also backfired.
  • The news of LDF president EP Jayarajan meeting BJP leader Prakash Javadekar on polling day embarrassed the party.

Leaders said the party needed to change course to win the upcoming local elections. More than the embarrassing defeat in two constituencies in Thiruvananthapuram, the CPM meeting foreshadowed that the BJP would take power in Thiruvananthapuram in the years to come.

CPM Meeting:

“For the third time, the LDF was relegated to the third position in Thiruvananthapuram. Rajeev Chandrasekhar was selected as a candidate only a month before the elections, but the vote garnered by the BJP was nonetheless shocking.

Had Shashi Tharoor not been the Congress candidate, the result would have gone in favour of the BJP. Many people have received personal benefits from the central government, including CPM families.” The meeting also discussed the erosion of votes from the core voter base. Internal conflicts within the party have also contributed to the concerns.

The election review report presented by the secretary asked everyone to seriously consider the increase in votes achieved by the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram district.

“The BJP was not far behind in the polls even against a strong opponent like V Joy in Attingal. This is a warning and if not taken seriously, the day will not be far when the saffron party takes control of the capital.”

The district Party committee meeting will be held on Sunday.
