“Day One” is not silent in theaters, making the film number 1 at the box office

It wasn’t so quiet in sales.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” was No. 1 at the box office on its release day Friday, grossing $22.5 million, The Numbers reported.

The film, the third installment in the “A Quiet Place” franchise, focuses on New York City during an alien invasion and stars Lupita Nyong’o, who, according to the New York Times, “commands the screen “.

According to Variety, it’s expected to gross $53 million this weekend, which would be the franchise’s biggest opening.

“Inside Out 2,” which was number one for two consecutive weeks, fell to second place, with $17.1 million in sales.

The Disney/Pixar film, released June 14, has already grossed $902.9 million worldwide and is expected to pass the $1 billion mark this weekend, according to Deadline.

“Horizon: An American Saga,” the western produced and directed by Kevin Costner and starring Kevin Costner, landed in third place, with $4.1 million.

The Post called the film, which also came out Friday, “an embarrassing, poorly told mess.”

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die”, which was in second place last Friday, fell to fourth place, grossing $2.835 million.

In fifth place is “The Bikeriders,” which raised $920,000.
