Wacker and CordenPharma are ready to face the pandemic

A contract between the German government and two contract manufacturers, Wacker Chemie and CordenPharma, has been honored. The partnership, formed in 2022 due to the shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, is now capable of producing 80 million messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines per year in a short period of time. While Wacker will produce the plasmid DNA, the starting material for mRNA vaccines, CordenPharma will manufacture the lipids needed for vaccine delivery and provide aseptic filling, finishing and packaging.
