Ellie Goulding breaks silence on split from husband Caspar Jopling

Ellie Goulding has confirmed she has split from husband Caspar Jopling.

The 37-year-old singer said they had been separated for “some time.”

She married the art dealer in 2019 and gave birth to son Arthur in 2021.

Posting a statement in an Instagram Story, Goulding said she had “no choice” but to publicly announce that they had broken up.

The Hertfordshire-born singer wrote: “In light of recent stories, I feel like I have no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I separated privately ago some time.

“We remain the closest of friends and have managed to co-parent with our son’s best interests at heart.

“We are committed to protecting the privacy of our family and thank in advance those who will respect our wishes. We will make no further comment.”

She also reposted a story from Jopling’s Instagram account that confirmed their split.

It said: “Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good day.

“I feel (sadly) that I must say something about my current relationship with Ellie… which I hope more than anything will put all the final tabloid speculation to rest.

“Ellie and I made the decision to separate some time ago.

“Our immediate family and close friends have known for some time, otherwise we chose to do what we could to keep it private.

“Ellie and I remain the closest of friends, and most importantly, co-parents to the best child in the world, Arthur.

“This is the last time I want to say on this subject – and please ask that you respect my privacy and Ellie’s. Thank you very much. Caspar.”

It was reported this week that the singer was seeing surf instructor Armando Perez in Costa Rica.

She is due to perform at the Brit Awards next week.

Shortly after her marital difficulties emerged last year, Ellie formed a close friendship with former Conservative MP and life peer Zac Goldsmith.

The two men were spotted together in London last fall after reportedly bonding over their passion for climate issues.

She has four number one albums in the UK to her credit, with the latest, “Higher Than Heaven”, due out in 2023.
