Taylor Swift has confirmed that her album Folklore was inspired by Irish storytelling.

The 34-year-old singer took to the stage for her second Eras Tour concert in Dublin on Saturday and sent her fans crazy by declaring that the record “belongs to them”.

Taylor released her eighth album in July 2020, and during her final appearance, she told the crowd that she began writing songs for Folklore just two days after the Covid lockdown began.

“Folklore in general is just Irish,” she said, adding: “How I imagined the world of the album being like Ireland. A narrative with lots of different characters. You have that locked away too. It’s very Irish, the storytelling.”

“I had to create an album where the fantasy world that I pretended to go to every day while I was writing it…I have to be honest, it felt a bit like Ireland. »

The moment, which sparked huge cheers from his Irish fans in attendance, was captured by a spectator at the Aviva Stadium and posted the moment to X.

Taylor also showed her love for the Emerald Isle by donning not one but two green ensembles for different eras of the series.

Her first tribute look was a forest green cape dress adorned with leaves and a cutout at her midsection – which she donned for Folklore.

Later in the show, for her 1989 era, Taylor once again sported the country colors as she wore a bejeweled orange bra and an ombre green skirt.

The surprise seems to delight fans, especially his Irish followers.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Taylor’s fans said: “The green folk dress is so Irish on her!! » ; “The Supremacy of the Green Dress”;

“Green folklore outfit for Ireland kills Taylor” and “Folklore is so coded in Ireland”.
