DCR Morrissey Boulevard Traffic Advisory

From Sunday, June 30, 2024 through Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will close lanes along Morrissey Boulevard (both directions) from Freeport Street to Mt Vernon Street in the City of Boston. Dorchester neighborhood from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to allow for lane striping work. Traffic patterns will be clearly posted and a police force will be on site.

Boston Harbor Festival

Boston Harborfest, one of the nation’s largest Fourth of July festivals, returns to Boston Harbor and downtown Boston for its 42nd edition.sd edition from July 1-4. The long-running festival, celebrating Boston’s revolutionary history and daily vibrancy, will feature dozens of events and activities, including live entertainment, historical reenactments, integration with U.S. Navy Week, fireworks and more. The latest schedule of events is now available at www.bostonharborfest.com.

The USS Constitution is scheduled to depart Charlestown Naval Shipyard on July 4th at 10:00 a.m. in honor of Independence Day! The USS Constitution cruise will be visible from the Boston Harbor Promenade, Castle Island, and Charlestown Naval Shipyard. A 21-gun salute will be fired, visible from Fort Independence on Castle Island, at approximately 11:30 a.m. While you’re at Castle Island, you might as well grab lunch or ice cream at Sullivan’s! The move will commemorate the 248th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Free swimming lessons with the Navy

As part of Boston’s Navy Week 2024, the Office of Veterans Services is partnering with the Boston Centers of Youth and Families and the U.S. Navy to offer a free swim lesson at BCYF’s Mason Pool from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn more here.
