America Ferrera spoke about the moment she found out she had been nominated for her first Oscar – and a few famous friends who were quick to congratulate her.

The old one Ugly Betty The star was nominated for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her remarkable performance in the barbie film, and spoke to Variety about how the moment unfolded for her when she first discovered it.

“There was a moment where I wasn’t sure if I had made that up,” she admitted. “And then my phone started blowing up, so I thought I must have heard it.”

First, she got a call from her publicist, followed by one from her husband, after which America got a rather star-studded group call.

She revealed that shortly after the nomination was announced, her former Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants co-stars, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively And Amber TamblynI got in touch via FaceTime.

“It was hilarious, funny and touching and it’s wonderful to be celebrated and supported by my sisters,” America enthused.

“These women that I have had the honor of growing up in this industry with, being loved, encouraged and supported by. What we all do for each other. They are incredible and such a gift in my life.”

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of watching The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, the teen drama centers around four friends who discover a pair of jeans that fit all four of them, and they pass them around during their summer vacation.

The 2005 film was followed by a sequel three years later, and reports claimed in 2018 that a third installment could be in the works.

The U.S. Academy Award nominations are one of eight nominations for Barbie, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Adapted Screenplay for Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.
