MasterChef AU fans are shocked by MasterChef US

Over the past 15 years MasterChef Australia Ever since the show hit our screens, we’ve known it as the healthiest and most caring reality TV show around. Contestants support each other, develop great friendships, and truly help each other become the best cooks they can be. But it turns out that’s not quite the case for versions of the show in other countries.

When an excerpt from the United States Chef appeared on my TikTok FYP, I was shaken to the core of my being. The clip – which has racked up over six million views at the time of writing – follows the contestants from 2014’s Season 5 Ahran Cho And Leslie Gilliams as they compete against each other throughout the competition.

It all started when Leslie, then 56, mispronounced Ahran’s, then 18, name, but the drama between them intensifies when they are forced to work together in a team challenge.

“If you forget the most important ingredient for donuts, you are a bit stupid and you should go home,” Ahran says in his solo interview.

Meanwhile, Leslie considers Ahran to be a disrespectful teenager.

“Can I say something, or are you going to step in every time because you’re 18 and this is what you do?” Leslie asks Ahran during the challenge.

“You can disrespect me as much as you want, okay? Because that’s what teenagers do. OK, so grow up and grow some balls! »

Although it is completely normal to have disagreements in such a stressful situation, the overall tone of the conflict is different from that of the conflict itself. Chef AU, we know and love it. The scenes are accompanied by music that heightens the drama and the production emphasizes the candidates’ arguments.

According to Chef On the subreddit, the difference between the Australian and American versions of the show is night and day.

“I’m American. Masterchef USA is a complete joke compared to AU,” one editor began.

“In the US, they only air one episode a week… one damn episode! They spend the first four weeks airing auditions of people trying to get on the show.”

“I will never forget when I first discovered MasterChef AU and I saw how many episodes there were… I said to myself: “This is incredible!” “wrote another American.

“MasterChef United States “encourages this kind of drama,” commented another.

“It’s not a very enjoyable show, and the best home cooks would certainly steer clear of it. From what I’ve heard from the auditions, the producers choose personalities who will oppose and encourage certain personalities. The kitchen is not the center of attention at all.

“I would like them to learn that the world loves MasterChef Australia because it’s a big bowl of comfort that promotes kindness, cooperation, and really good food. The world has enough toxicity and drama. I need my cooking shows to be a warm hug.

Wondering what happened to Leslie and Ahran?

For many viewers, the feud between Leslie and Ahran was the highlight of the season. Although they started off poorly, the two eventually got along and developed a father-daughter relationship on the show. Isn’t that adorable?
